Instructions:

  • Word count: 650 maximum (+ references)
As for all assessment items, Harvard Referencing is to be used.
  • Assume that you are the HR Manager of your organisation. Your Chief Executive Officer has asked you to write a report explaining the important role of human resource management (HRM) in executing your organisation’s business strategy. In your report, you will explain how HR managers can apply Strategic human resource planning to enhance organisational performance. Also provide a recommendation on how to improve and/or address any issue you may have identified with the selected HRM practices.
  1. Explain the role of HRM in executing your organisation’s business strategy. (150 words)
  2. Discuss how your organisation will benefit from using Strategic human resource planning to improve organisational performance. (500 words)
  • Undertake a literature review for Strategic human resource planning to establish the characteristics of professional HRM practice. Identify and support your findings by referencing academic literature strictly using quality text books (including the course textbook) AND journal articles of relevance. By using recent peer reviewed academic journal articles published between 2011 and 2021 (minimum of five {5}) (note: Wikipedia is not an academic reference).
  • Conduct a “critical analysis”, which means you should not only understand some basic concepts involved in the case organisation, but also critically evaluate relevant information to support your arguments.

** Note plagiarism – the use of others’ words without attribution – is considered a severe offence, and will lead to serious consequences (including subject failure).

Important: Critical analysis does not refer to a critique of journal articles. It means looking at all the facts, weighing them up and making a decision based on the weighting. Students may have to make links both with the data, such as between theory and practice (or case study), and beyond the particular subject being studied to other subjects and other knowledge. They may have to situate themselves and take a position in relation to the theory, discourse and issues being discussed then justify the position taken. They may also have to uncover the discourse of the subject through immersion in reading and thought, to understand the wide debates in the field and to critically examine the implicit and explicit issues central to the subject/discipline.
