  1. Learning and Teaching
    This module is delivered using a blended learning approach with scheduled online and face-to-face sessions over 15 weeks. To complete the module successfully you must also allocate a substantial amount of independent study time.

Learning is centred on the work placement with an emphasis on learning through practice. On-campus and online teaching will introduce you to a range of topics which will be supported by practical work in IT suites.

Tutorials will be included for students to discuss plans of appropriate activities for children and the wider use of technology in the early years. Students will share good practice from the workplace in facilitated discussions. The theory–practice link is of great importance and will be made through the promotion of reflection on practice and drawing examples from practice. You will have one to one support from both the module tutor.

If you are unable to attend a live session due to factors outside your control, you are expected to inform your tutor and engage in this, where possible, before the next scheduled session.

  1. Module Description
    This module aims to equip you with knowledge and understanding to make effective use of technology and ICT in your practice with young children. It also aims to support the development of your own ICT skills as a practitioner. The module reflects the changing learning preferences of children and practitioners in an increasingly digital world and what this means in practice in settings. Throughout the module, links are made with relevant early years curriculums, guidelines and principles of learning. In addition to understanding good practice in relation to technology and ICT in an early years context, the module aims to develop employability skills and to promote environmental sustainability.
